They Did It!

My boys are growing up, they surprised Mommy last night with a full night sleep. In the past they have slept in as late at 5:45 a.m., well last night they went from 9:45 p.m. to 6:55 a.m. I was shocked and I think it might have something to do with the fact that this was their first full day and night on just formula. Yes, that's right I am weaning off breast feeding for the dreaded day drawing near, my first day back to work. Now don't go getting all judgey, it just no longer makes sense to rent the hospital pump and spend the time pumping to only get 3 ounces, and who knows what I would do when I am back to work. The pump went back and to relieve some of the pressure each boy has been breast feeding about 5 minutes a day, I have a feeling it will be all dried up in just a couple more days. Sad to think we are out of that stage, but for us it makes sense. They got a couple good months of it and now I will have more time to cuddle them instead of pump. I can also now concentrate on eating low cal meals and getting my butt back into shape.

Thanksgiving was fun, and uneventful. I had a few teary moments throughout the day remembering how hard last year was for me and when we prayed before dinner and said how thankful we all were for Noah and Aaden. It was so amazing to see my little angels sleeping peacefully next to the table as we enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal.

The next morning our family of four set out to black Friday, I know nuts huh? And wouldn't ya know it we forgot the stroller. So out plan of going to Kohl's turned into Target at 5 a.m. so that we could each push a boy in a cart. I am proud to say that I am now about 98% done with my Christmas shopping and we got some great deals.

Saturday we went to the Christmas parade here in town. I love the parade and had always dreamed of someday taking my children to it. Again I remember how hard it was last year to watch all the children and parents ring in the holiday season. Well this year was our turn as I cuddled my little bundled up bundles and watched them enjoy the lights.

I cannot express how exciting this Christmas is going to be. The boys are in love with our Christmas tree and I had so much fun telling them where each and every ornament came from as they watched me hang the ornaments. It is amazing that I can go from dreading Christmas to now loving it, thanks to our little blessings.

Just curious....is it the healthy for 2 month old babies to go 9 hours without eating? Shouldn't they be eating every 3-4 hours at that age? I've read many articles that say sleeping through the night (usually 6 hours)occurs around 6-7 months.

my pedi is happy with the boys weight gain and the amount they are eating, she encourages the schedule we are on and sleeping through the night. Had the boys not shown a solid weight gain, we would be waking them for feedings. Last night was the first time they slept that long, it might be just a fluke. They are eating 6 ounces at bedtime.

They are too cute! Enjoy the sleep...if they need to eat more, they'll wake up, believe me. The sooner they sleep through the night, the better for everyone! Two of my three were sleeping about 10-12 hours at that age, so I think you're fine! ;)

I so agree with Nathalie's comment. Your SIL scared me to death at 2 1/2 months when she slept 9 hours (even though she was sleeping next to me in her cradle).I had given her a 5 oz bottle at 10:30 PM and when her Dad's alarm sounded off at 7:30 AM I jumped out of bed thinking the worse for she hadn't waken all night. As, you know now, 22 years later she was fine . It was not a fluke, she continued to sleep through the night. When I asked (Doctor Nelson)(who was also your Pediatrician, lol) he said what was happening was she was getting enough to eat/drink (formula)that is , during the day. He also explained under weight babies (such as premies) need to eat every 3 -4 hours, until they caught up on the normal weight for their age. As you also know your SIL weighed about the same as the boys do at their current age :)

Keep sleeping through the night Noah & Aaden!!! However, when "Mima" gets there in a few weeks it's okay with me if you want to get up in the middle of the night to play. Just don't tell Mommy and Daddy:)

Yaaay! That is great that they are sleeping through the night, I hope they keep it up. My Little one would sleep through every other night and wake up for 2 feedings the other nights... go figure!

Your pictures are just adorable!

Congratulations on your gorgeous baby boys!! We are expecting twin girls any day now and I hope and pray that our babies are born as healthy and adorable as yours are. Can you please tell me where you got the precious twins Christmas ornament? It is by far the best one I've ever seen. Thank you and again, many congrats! Happy Holidays!!
